This unique and irreplaceable piece is an original section of track , belonging to Line 6, the circular line of the Madrid Metro. This fragment of rail has guided the passage of millions of trains and has been an essential part of the daily commute for millions of passengers.

As part of the comprehensive renovation of Line 6, which is preparing to become Madrid Metro's first fully automated line, this section of track has been removed and given a new life: it has been transformed into a small sculpture imbued with history, memory, and movement. The rails installed on Line 6—as on the rest of the network—are of type 54E1 , a T-section (flat bottom rail) model with a mass of 54.77 kg per linear meter. Manufactured from R260 steel , mostly sourced from the steel industry in Gijón (Asturias) , these rails have a Brinell hardness of between 260 and 300 HB. This allows them to withstand continuous rail traffic and extreme environmental conditions without deformation.
